Is there hair breakage on your wig? What is a return?

You may notice that your alternative hair piece, be that a wig or a topper, has shorter hair that may look like breakage. In most cases, this is not breakage and your wig is absolutely healthy. What you are seeing is something that is called a “return”.

While the industry standard is a 1-2” return, we offers a 4-6” return on hand tied sections to allow for easier blending. You will notice a 1-2” return in wefted areas, since the hair in wefted sections is sewn securely, a longer return is not needed. The length of any style is predetedmined so that the wig maker knows where to tie the knot or to sew a weft.

For a 10” style length, a 14-16” hair strand is needed. The remaining length on the other side of the knot or the weft is called the return. 10” is the actual hair style.

To blend in the return, use heat treat thermal spray and flat iron. This will blend in any noticeable return hairs into the finished style.
Use versatile 3-way hair spray on a fine tooth comb and comb through to finish.
